What’s scaring us this Halloween?
Melting permafrost. Hellish wildfires. Mass displacement. Rising sea levels. Ghosting ice caps. Species extinction. Undead algae blooms. Runaway climate feedback loops. Fossil-fueled fascism.
All these horrors and more are contained in the IPCC’s groundbreaking new “Special Report on Global Warming of 1.5°C,” with huge implications for how much more urgently we need to curb capitalism to transform our society to fight climate change and the many crises that overlap with it.
On Tuesday October 30, join Metro DC DSA Ecosocialists to take a deep breath, decompress, and discuss what this IPCC report means for all of us — and what we can do to make the better world we want possible against a timeline. We'll start with a talk going over the findings of the report and their implications, and talk about work going on in Metro DC DSA and other local organizations to start the just transition to a no-carbon economy.
Don’t panic. Organize!
