As part of the March 15 Global Climate Strike, join students and people across Washtenaw County as we walk out to demand urgent, tangible action on climate change from policy makers at all levels of UM, Washtenaw County, and the state of Michigan. Business as usual is no longer sustainable; it frankly never was. We cannot continue to work and learn when the fate of our world is at stake.
We have eleven years left to mitigate the worst impacts of climate change. At 11:11AM, we will walk out from our classes or workplaces, and meet on the Diag to hear from students and other speakers about how we can all fight for climate justice. Additional details forthcoming.
We demand action across the whole spectrum of climate justice issues including divesting money from fossil fuels and the carceral state to invest in renewable energy, achieving total carbon neutrality by 2030, and making real progress towards a future for all of us. A full list of demands will be posted before the event.
We are also looking for volunteers to get involved with organizing! If you share our sense of urgency for this work, message us on facebook.
