Every day, communities around the world suffer droughts, floods, famines, wildfires and storms due to climate change. Our reckless burning of fossil fuels has poisoned marginalized communities around Maryland, around the country and across the world. But UMD continues to burn natural gas at a power plant right in our backyard, while claiming to be a climate leader.
Join us to demand that UMD act like a true leader and invest in clean, fossil free energy. We need to commit to carbon neutrality by 2025, break free from natural gas and fossil fuel investments, and take real action on climate change. These climate disasters will affect all of us, and to fix it, we have to act at EVERY level.
Speakers will include McKayla Wilkes, Maryland District 5 Democratic Challenger; Bre Macpherson-Rice, Organizer with the Sunrise Movement, and several UMD campus activists.
